Spark plug replacement is a long-interval item on gasoline engines, and the interval depends on the plug type the engine was built around rather than on the vehicle model name.
Electrode material determines how long a plug holds its gap. Plugs built with precious metal electrodes hold their shape far longer than conventional ones, and manufacturers set the replacement point around the type fitted at the factory. Installing a different type does not move the interval the manufacturer published.
On some engines the plugs are reached in minutes. On others the intake manifold or a coil assembly has to come off first. This changes the labour involved and the cost of the visit, but it does not change when the item is due.
Diesel engines ignite by compression and use glow plugs to assist starting, which is a different part with a different service pattern. Electric vehicles have no spark plugs at all. Hybrids that use a gasoline engine do have them, and the interval comes from that engine record.
Rough idle, a misfire under load, longer cranking before the engine starts, or a drop in fuel economy can point at worn plugs. A misfire warning light is a reason to have the ignition system examined rather than to wait for the next checkpoint.
